About the role

As a Manager, Actuarial Commercial Lines your work will have a big impact on our Pricing, Commercial Lines team. This is a key opportunity in the CL management team, with a focus to profitably capitalise on a quickly growing piece of the IFC overall portfolio. People will count on you to ensure the quality of deliverables affecting the rating, underwriting and deployment to systems, develop strategic tools, supervise activities through planning and dstribution of the work, foster teamwork and guide the training and development of the team. �� 

This position is a full-time permanent opportunity in hybrid mode. A 3days a week presence in the office. You can do this role from Montreal, Quebec City, Saint-Hyacinthe, or Toronto.  

What you'll do here: 

  • Ensure the quality of operational deliverables, oversee daily activities by planning and dispatching work, promote teamwork and guide the training and development of team members. 

  • Actively participate in regional and national stakeholder discussions, helping drive change directly with the Commercial front line. 

  • Develop, maintain, and influence decisions on rating, underwriting rules and system designs to maximize profitable growth and speed in commercial lines. 

  • Plan and oversee the execution of projects and strive for continuous improvement in Commercial Lines� deployment quality. 

  • Ensure the team is productive and continuously works to improve the processes and tools. 

  • Manage performance reviews, training and coaching for group members to meet the company�s strategic objectives. 

  • Manage your team�s activities by organizing, planning, and controlling the optimal use of human, financial and material resources in accordance with company strategies and budget planning. 

  • Act as a key stakeholder and actuarial representative for large-scale pricing projects, establishing and translating conceptual needs into concrete and clear specifications and participating in the development and tracking of deliverables. 

  • Represent the Actuarial function on various company task forces and act as the point of contact for other business units. 

 

What you bring to the table: 

  • University degree in Actuarial Science, Information Technology or Business Administration 

  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience including at least 2 years in management or coaching 

  • Knowledge of Commercial Lines insurance market 

  • Good strategic vision and facilitator of change Strong communication, time management and organizational skills �

  • Bilingual (French / English)   Need to interact on a regular basis with an English-speaking clientele and colleagues across the country
